Project Management:

Any transition is a massive project. In fact, it is multiple projects masquerading as one. Multiple vendors and departments, conflicting requirements and priorities, escalating costs and limited budgets ? all combine to make it a really complex exercise.
KALS shall provide Senior Project Managers with relevant expertise, who can handle all aspects of the transition project thereby releasing the current IT team to focus on its priorities.

Application Maintenance Service:

Transition does not happen in a week or a month. Realistically, it takes over 2 years for the entire cycle to be complete. During this phase, the IT team is involved in identifying features for the new system, identifying technology options, selecting suppliers, studying the internal processes, co-ordinating with users and vendors etc. Meanwhile, business has to go on. Users need new features, they need bug fixes, they need performance improvement ? all in the old system. KALS plays a fill-in role in this phase. KALS can participate in the maintenance and enhancement of the old applications as part of your internal IT team.

The IT team in an end-user organization is typically a single technology team. Familiarity with new technologies would be unlikely to be more than rudimentary, given that such an opportunity never arose. Data quality study, clean-up and migration

Garbage in-Garbage out, is a well known axiom. Changing the technology platform will serve no real purpose if the data on which the new application operates remains incomplete. If customer data is incorrect or missing or if there are inconsistencies in the data, these problems will get carried over to the new system. A thorough exercise in cleaning-up the data and migrating it, is therefore as critical as getting the application right. Many projects have stumbled because of lack of sufficient time and budget allocation for data clean-up and migration. An early study will ensure that big unknown problems are not encountered later.
KALS shall undertake a comprehensive data quality analysis, data clean-up and migration exercise. Before the planning phase of the transition itself, KALS will undertake a quick study to analyse the overall quality of data. An appropriate team can be constituted.

User Acceptance Testing

It is not uncommon to see an end-user organization take ample time to decide on features, to decide on the vendor and frequent project reviews, but when it comes to the final delivery, exhaustion and lack of awareness leads to a very casual UAT. In effect, the vendor gets away with delivering a package that is far from perfect and in fact, makes even more revenue from maintenance as the users later on report the problems in the system.
KALS shall be a partner for the UAT exercise ensuring that the system delivered as per the requirements. A dedicated team of UAT experts shall be deployed which will ensure that UAT is done rigorously and matching the System specifications.
